MOROTO TEACHERS COLLEGE GETS NEW DORM

The new girls dormitory for Moroto Core PTC

MOROTO: FRIDAY, AUGUST 05, 2022

A new dormitory for female students has been commissioned at Moroto Core Primary Teachers College.

The 42-bed capacity dormitory was constructed by the German humanitarian organization, Welt Hunger Hilfe.

The commissioner for teacher education at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Jonathan Kamwana presided over the commissioning on Wednesday.

He thanked Welt Hunger Hilfe for completing the project timely saying there is need to support more women in education across the country.

Stephen Kamusongwe, the Principal of Moroto Core PTC said, the initiative will help them to boost girls’  education at the  PTC that will later help to encourage young children to embrace education.

The dormitory is fitted with a solar power and water pumping system.

Dirk Ullerich, Welt Hunger Hilfe’s Project Manager for Karamoja Region, said the initiative is geared at creating a healthy space for female students which will in turn increase the number of female teachers in the Karamoja Sub-Region.

He said this is in line with the campaigns to increase the number of girls at school in Karamoja
