Northern Eagles to battle Agape United in the Shalom Youth Peace tournament, Kotido

After two weeks of great football and peace drives, the Shalom Peace tournament will come to an end today 28th August,2022  at 3:30 pm at Boma grounds kotido with Northern Eagles playing against Agape united.

The tournament that started on the 15th August, 2022 had 10 teams competing and was played in group stages with 5 teams in each of the groups A and B playing against in other once and the top two teams qualifying for the semi-finals.

Group A consisted of Reagen FC, Kanawat FC, Lokitelaebu Fc, Nakapelimoru FC, and Losilang FC with Lokitelaebu Fc finishing first after collecting 9 points from the 4games played. Nakapelimoru joined them in the semi finals collecting 9 points as well but becoming second on goal difference.

Group B consisted of Agape United, Kapeta Fc, Panyangara FC, Sunrise FC and Northern Eagles Fc with Agape United topping the group after collecting the maximum 12 points from the four games played followed by Northern Eagles Fc with 9points.

Agape United knocked out the Nakapelimoru in the semi final game with a final score of 2-1 the same score between Northern eagles and Lokitelaebu in favour of Northern Eagles. The two teams from the same group B now face off in the finals with the group stage meeting ending in a 2-1 win for Agape United FC.

The third place off match which was scheduled between Lokitelaebu and Nakapelimoru was cancelled and Nakapelimoru awarded the 3rd place due to indiscipline by the Lokitelaebu Fc team in the semi final game with Northern Eagles.

The champions of the tournament will walk away with a trophy and 100,000/= meanwhile the second placed team 100,000/= and 50,000/= to the third placed team which is now confirmed as Nakapelimoru Fc.

In other awards, the top scorer will receive 20,000/=, best player will receive 25,000/= and the most disciplined team receives 50,000/=.

Head of outreach programme at Shalom Godfrey Lokure said the tournament targeted sub counties with high records of raids in a bid to preach the word of peace to the youths in Kotido.
