TURKISH ORGANISATION SUPPORTS 400 HOUSEHOLDS IN KARAMOJA WITH FOOD AID

Kotido residents offloading food aid from Turkey

KOTIDO: TUESDAY, AUGUST 09, 2022

At least 400 households in Kotido district have received food aid donated by the Gida Yardimi, a charity organization from Turkey, the local leaders have said.

Paul Komol Lotee, the Kotido district LC% chairman said each beneficiary family received 25 kilograms of maize flour.

These were in the sub-counties of Napumpum, Kacheri and Kotido central division t.

Lotee thanked the the organization from Turkey for the donation of maize flour and urged the beneficiaries to struggle and look for the beans.

Peter Aleper Oyapau, the LC3 chairperson of Kacheri Sub County confirmed that 100 households received the Turkish aid on August 9.

He said the residents were excited about the food and appealed to the Turks to send more support to the Karimojong people who have been affected by famine due to prolonged drought and insecurity.

Alex Lochan, a resident of Kacheri Sub County applauded the Turkish government and the Gida Yardimi for supporting them with maize flour.

He however requested that Turkish charity should consider sending them maize flour together with beans for the sauce in case they arrange another assistance for the people.

Ambrose Onoria, the Kotido resident district commissioner, appreciated the Turks for supplementing the efforts of the Uganda government by extending food aid to Karamoja.

Onoria noted that Uganda and Turkey have cordial relations and said that if the Turkish people can extent their relief aid to the whole of Karamoja, it will be a job well done.
