Arwotcek Health Center II was recently given a go ahead to upgrade to a Health Center III with new facility blocks being constructed to enhance this process, a move that leaders say is timely as it will bring more services closer to the people and reducing the overload on Amolatar Health Center IV that attends to patients from the whole district.

The facility which is based in Arwotcek Sub County, Amolatar district saw the community jubilate at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a unit block for the new Health Center III.

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Amolatar, Lyavala Ahmed on behalf of the district handed over the project site to the contractor -KATS Civil and Water Works Limited. He advised the contractor to execute the contract as planned and ensure value for money.

He also emphasised the need to use local labour as away to give back to the community so that they embrace the project and not rebel incase the project takes a turn due to uncertainties.

“As per the contract, it is only a state of emergency that can justify the request for an extension of time by the contractor to complete the project. Under the able leadership of President Museveni, peace is guaranteed and thus there is no excuse whatsoever. Our people should guard these achievements of the last 36 years by keeping this government to help consolidate and gain more,” Lyavala appealed.

Upon completion next year, the structure is expected to have a 24-bed capacity and it will cost about shillings 600 Million. The contract will also cater for the renovation of the old buildings at the Health Center.

Nagoya Bruno, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Amolatar cautioned the contractor against poor quality works that will not be entertained and reiterating that the time stand of the works is not going to be extended unless a very drastic situation comes up.

On his own side, Mr. Geoffrey Ocen,  the District Local Council 5 Chairperson welcomed the development saying its a Boost to the health services for the people in the district while as well calling upon the district leaders to participate in the supervision of the project.

Last year during a courtesy visit by the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to the district, she committed herself and the government to elevating Amolatar Health Center 4 to a hospital. In that visit she promised advance of the maternity ward which works are currently ongoing.
