Minister Nandutu safe, at Parliament

State minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu

The state minister for Karamoja affairs, Nandutu Agnes is safe and in Parliament doing her duties.

According to the Minister’s tweet yesterday evening, she urged everyone to disregard information circulating on social media that she has been ambushed by suspected Karimojong warriors.

Nandutu said she was in Karamoja three (3) weeks ago and now very safe deliberating issues of national importance.

“My good followers, disregard the fake news circulating that I have been attacked in Karamoja. I was in Karamoja three weeks ago. Am very safe and now in #Parliament deliberating national matters. #Alakaranooi, the tweet read.”

However according to police report, the incident that took place on 23.08.2022 involved Mrs Acuma Mary who is the principal Kaabong nursing school while on her way from kotido town going to Kaabong district but was ambushed by two suspected karamajong warriors.

The report states that while still in kotido, she was warned that the road was not safe but she decided to pass at RENGEN ARMY DETACH, picked two soldiers in her personal car UBL 384N X-TRAIL, Black in colour and another vehicle Toyota Double cabin UG 6968M belonging to Kaabong hospital also carried some soldiers to escort her.

“When they reached a place called LOBEL, they fell in an ambush and two young looking karamajong warriors shot at them damaging the behind tyres of the principal’s vehicle. The UPDF soldiers responded immediately and the warriors disappeared into the bush, the report added.”

Police says no body was injured, the incident was not reported to police until today when the victim shared the video on social media and some people started spreading false news that the ambush involved HON AGNES NANDUTU,the state minister for karamoja affairs.

Statement has been recorded from Mrs Acuma mary and other witnesses, inquiries into the incident at hand.
