Various youth across Karamoja region are organizing different activities to present during their Cultural gala to entire world as they prove to the elders that culture shall not be lost with the ever changing world technological trends. Youth are seen as possible custodians of the culture and as such it is an important event for them to prove capability.
The Karamoja cultural gala which is scheduled to take place from the 30th August to 3rd September in Abim Secondary School Abim District will give chance to different Youths in the region to experience their Cultural norms that most are not privy with especially those who grew up in towns.
There will be a lot of cultural showcasing of things like food through the guidance of Elders to entire generations and visitors, cultural dressing, exhibition, music performances by local artistes and many more. This is intended to sell the culture beyond the region’s boarders.
Nakong Janet a female Youth from Moroto municipality says it will be a great moment for her to meet different Youths with different ideas and skills that will be presented during cultural gala.
“I want to know what other Youth do in other parts of Karamoja and this will be my opportunity to see with my naked eyes, Nakong said.”
Kalistus Aleper chairperson male youth Councilor Kotido district appreciate organizing committee for cultural gala for giving space for Youth in Karamoja region to showcase their talents, products which would empower them to Love their culture and learn from Elders.
Kalistus say he will be happy to see how Youth participation will be explore after cultural gala that they expect some different after the event.
Kalistus added that since the main issues of cultural gala is to create peace with neighboring districts and Youth are always blame for some such incidents ,so they expect Youth to embrace in peace making.
Allan Ojok organizing committee Karamoja cultural gala 2022 in Abim say committee look at Youth as the next Elders to be trained to preserve cultural heritage in the region that’s why they had to give them chance to show their talents in dancing, exhibition to at least give them time to share with fellow
Youth across the region.
Yuventine Adyeda Omara The Abim District chairperson local council 5 urged Youth to make good use of this moment so that they can identify the competent future Elders.
Omara talked about digital system which is terminating different cultures but he appealed to Youth in Karamoja to balance not to leave their culture. Karamoja Youth to take 70% to participate in 7 Edition Karamoja cultural gala set to be in Abim district.
